Obituaries: George L. Main

George L. Main, Jr., 83, of New Britain, passed away Saturday January 14, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. He was the husband of the late Marion (Mays) Main with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

 

George was born October 8, 1933 in New Britain, the son of the late George L. and Taby (Elia) Main Sr. He was a graduate of New Britain High School a proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Along with his wife Marion, he was an active volunteer at St. Francis Church in New Britain.  George was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Dallas Cowboys fan and also enjoyed following the UCONN Women’s Basketball Team, but mostly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

 

He leaves his son, David Main and his wife Kim of Georgia, his daughters, Nancy Main of New Britain and Karen Cox and her husband Phil of Plainville, his grandchildren, Bobby and Marisa Main, Ty and Christopher Cox and Evan and Amanda Main, his great granddaughter Malina Main, his brother Philip Main and his wife Patricia of Granby, his aunt Katherine Mercugliano and her husband Lawrence and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Family and friends may gather at the Bailey Funeral home 48 Broad Street in Plainville on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a service in celebration of George’s life beginning at 12:00 p.m. Burial will be held privately. Marilyn (Nash) Kosak, 90, of Bristol, widow of Edward Kosak, died on Monday (January 16, 2017) at Countryside Manor in Bristol.  Marilyn was born in Manhattan on February 21, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Elsie (Backman) Nash.  Raised in the Bronx, she formerly lived in Plainville, East Hartford, and Terryville before moving to Bristol.  She had worked as a medical secretary for a number of doctor’s offices.  She enjoyed listening and dancing to big band era music, spending time at various lakes and at the beach, and she especially enjoyed her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Marilyn is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Gary McMahon and Carlene Okula of Newington; her twin daughters: Linda Sonstroem and husband, Tim, of Burlington, and Laura McMahon of Ruther Glen, VA; four grandchildren: Joel and Amy Sonstroem, and Holly and Ryan McMahon; and two great-grandchildren: Luke and Marion Sonstroem.  She was predeceased by a son, Brian McMahon, a brother, Ron Nash, and her former husband, Howard McMahon.  Funeral services will be held on Friday (January 20, 2017) at 11 AM at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, with the Reverend Zachary Mabe, pastor of Terryville Congregational Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery Bristol.  Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Friday between 10 and 11 AM.  Memorial donations may be made to the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St., Terryville, CT 06786.  Please visit Marilyn’s memorial web-site at www.FUNKFUNERALHOME.com

Obituaries: Raymond L. Albert

Raymond L. Albert, 85, of Plainville passed away surrounded by his loving family on January 15, 2017 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. He was the beloved husband of Estella (Harding) Albert for 63 years.

Raymond was born on November 10, 1931 in Madawaska, Maine son to the late Hector and Mamie (Marquis) Albert. He grew up in Maine and moved to CT in 1964 with his wife, Estella, where they raised their family. They were residents of Plainville for many years. Raymond worked for New Britain Machine for 20 years and later worked for and retired from Fenn in Newington. Raymond enjoyed taking trips camping with his family to Millinocket Lake, Maine. In his former years, he was an avid guitar player. He loved watching horse racing.

In addition to his wife, Estella, Raymond is survived by his children: Reynold Albert and his wife, Diane, of Waterbury; Allan Albert, of New Britain; Marilyn Renaud, of Plainville; Theresa Regan and her husband, Francis, of Florida; Linda Duquette and her husband, Louis, of Wolcott; his sister, Noella Boscarino and her husband, John, of New Britain; and many, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Scott Albert and his brother, Maurice Albert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 94 Broad St., Plainville. Friends and family are asked to meet directly at the church. Burial will be held on Saturday, January 21 at 10 AM at Saint Joseph Cemetery, 151 Farmington Ave., Plainville. Carol Smedberg, 80, of Southington, passed away after a lengthy illness on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at Apple Rehab, Plainville.

Born in Bristol, she was one of six children to the late William R. and Alberta (Elton) Smedberg.  A lifelong resident of Southington, she attended local schools, and prior to her retirement, worked for Taylor Rental in Plainville.

She leaves her sister, Frances White of Bristol, and brothers, George Smedberg of Greensboro, NC and Lawrence Smedberg of Rocky Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Leonard and William.

Peter R. Vanoni Sr., 80, of Bristol, husband of MaryAnn (Greco) Vanoni passed away Tuesday January 17, 2017 at Bristol Hospital.

Peter was born August 15, 1936 in Terryville, CT, son of the late John L. and Jennie (Gotaski) Vanoni.  Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Accurate Forging of Bristol and the Pequabuck Golf Club.  He was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church, Bristol and member of Thomaston Fish & Game Club, Bristol Fish & Game Club, the Polish American Political Club, Terryville and the NRA.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons, John Vanoni and his wife Debra of North Windham, Peter Vanoni of Altona, NY; his daughter, Karen Wisz and her husband Michael of Plainville; his sister, Rosemary Lawrence of Terryville; his grandchildren, Amberly, Kayla and Alison, and several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the nurses at the ICU of Bristol Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Friday 9:30AM from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville to St. Anthony Church, Bristol for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00PM.

Lena (Covino) Corso, 90, of Farmington, widow of Rocco Corso, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2017, at her home.  Lena was born in Bagnoli, Irpino, Italy, on October 27, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Savino and Concetta (Frasca) Covino.  Lena was a lifelong Bristol resident prior to moving to Farmington, had been employed by the Bristol Store for several years prior to retirement and was a member of St. Anthony Church, Bristol.  She enjoyed cooking, knitting and gardening. Lena was loving and kind to all her family and friends. She was devoted to her family, preparing meals and being in the company of her grandchildren made her most happy.  Mrs. Corso is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law: John and Mary Frances Corso, of Farmington and Rocco N. Corso, of Plainville; and daughter and son-in-law: Luci Corso and her husband Art Davis, of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; a brother: Frank Covino, of Plantsville; four grandchildren: Christopher Corso, Alison Passafiume, Rocky and Nicholas Roland; two great-grandchildren: Ali and Addison Roland, and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by a sister: Gina Branca.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (Jan. 26, 2017) at 10 AM at St. Anthony Church, 111 School Street, Bristol. Obituaries: Joseph S. Dobek

Joseph S. Dobek, 87, of Bristol, beloved husband of Therese Denise (Bourret) Dobek and widower of Anita (Trahan) Dobek, died on Thursday (January 19, 2017) at home after a long fight with Lewy Body Dementia.  Joseph was born in Fall River, MA on March 15, 1929 and was a son of the late Antoni and Zofia (Dyl) Dobek.  He was raised in Fall River, MA, graduating from B.M.C. Durfree High School, leaving the area to attend college at General Motors Institute, Flint Michigan where in 1951 he received a Bachelor’s Degree with Honors in Industrial Engineering.  Upon graduation, he moved to Meriden where he worked for the New Departure Division of General Motors.  He settled in Bristol during the mid-sixties when he was promoted to plant manager of the New Departure Forge Plant on Terryville Avenue until its consolidation with the new plant on Chippens Hill.  He then served as superintendent of various departments until retiring when the plant closed in the nineties.  He was a past president of Meriden Masonic Temple Foundation and was a Sphinx Shriner often collecting for the Shriner Hospitals.  He also was past-president of the former Bristol chapter of AARP.  He was an avid gardener known for the rose bushes he tended to and cared for both at home and at his former church, Trinity Episcopal Church in Bristol.  He was currently a parishioner of St. Gregory Church, Bristol.  In addition to his wife, Joseph is survived by four children: Tony Dobek and fiancée, Holly Castle of Plainville, Jody D’Antonio and husband, Marc, of Terryville, Stanley Dobek and wife, Audrey, of Rio Rancho, NM, and Richard Dobek of Bristol; five grandchildren: Nicholas Dobek, Gabriel and Hunter D’Antonio, Aimee-Lee Lamanna-Chasse, and Sasha Dobek; two great-grandchildren: Kaiden and Maci; and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by three brothers : Frank, Stanley, his twin Edward Dobek, and a sister Jane Krudys.  Funeral services will be held on Friday (January 27, 2017) at 10:30 AM from Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol, to St. Gregory Church, 235 Maltby St., Bristol, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.  Relatives and friends may call at Funk Funeral Home on Thursday between 5 and 7 PM.  The family thanks Dr. Richard Guerriere and Dr. Margarita Reyes as well as Bristol Hospital Hospice Nurses and his caregivers from Synergy Home Care and Always Best Care for all the wonderful care of Joe during his illness.   Memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 N. Obituaries: William P. ‘Bill’ Canavan, 97

On Sunday January 8, 2017 we lost another member of the Greatest Generation. William P. “Bill” Canavan, 97, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his devoted wife of 70 years Nan (Zliczewski) Canavan.

 

Bill was born Sept. 25, 1919 in Scotland, the son of the late Thomas and Susan (McClusker) Canavan. At the age of four Bill came to the U.S. with his parents and was raised in Springfield, Illinois. He proudly served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Niblack. During the war he rescued several men who were in the water from the torpedoed British ship the HMS Holcombe. His actions were recognized with the U.S. Navy and Marine Corp Medal which was the highest non-combat heroism medal given at that time.

 

Bill had a very strong work ethic and enjoyed his many decades with Plainville Electrical Products Company (PEPCO) in Bristol.

 

Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, reading and helping others. He was an avid bowler and, of course, always had time for golf!

 

Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Thomas Canavan and wife Adriana of Grafton, MA, Scott Canavan and his wife Catherine of Shoreham, VT, and Cindy Truslow and her husband Al of Southington and Naples, FL. He was also very proud of his four grandchildren, Colleen, Caitlin, Winter and Silas Canavan, and two great-grandchildren Ryleigh and Kellen.

 

In Illinois Bill leaves his nieces Diane Canavan, Kathy Rakes, Maureen and husband Pat O’Conner, Carole Juranek and husband Bob, and nephew Michael Canavan and wife Donna as well as their mother Carolyn Lippa and her husband Chuck. Bill also leaves his brother Tom Canavan and sister-in-law Patsy Canavan and his nephew Tom Canavan.

 

He was predeceased by his brothers Joseph and John Canavan.

 

The family extends their appreciation to the wonderful staff at the Alzheimer’s Resource Center in Plantsville for the excellent care Bill received. His care partners in neighborhood 1A treated him with such kindness and respect for which we will always be grateful.

Elizabeth Mary Uchalik-Gimma, 66, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2017 at Bristol Hospital after an illness, with her son and granddaughter by her side. She was born in New Britain, to the late Michael and Mary (Koval) Gimma. Elizabeth was a resident of New Britain and Bristol, graduating from New Britain High and raising her family in Bristol. She was a devout parishioner of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. She enjoyed going out with friends and spent most of her time with her son and granddaughter. She will be most remembered for being a lifelong caregiver.

She is survived by her husband Michael, her son Michael Uchalid and granddaughter Lynn Uchalid of Bristol; her nephew Michael Descoteaux and wife Angelita; her great nephew Michael Jr. and great niece Jasmine Descoteaux;  her nieces Gwendolyn Bouras of Unionville, Catherine Matulis of East Hartford and Christine Steward. As well as Frank A. Uchalik, and their three nieces and nephew in California. She was predeceased by sisters MaryJane Descoteaux and Joan Matulis, and her nephew Jim Matulis.

Obituary: Donald W. Barrows, 82

Donald W. Barrows, 82, of Plainville and Ft. Lauderdale, FL, passed away on Friday, Feb. 3, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.

Born on January 29, 1935 in Plainville to the late Albert and Alfield (Sungren) Barrows, he had been a longtime Plainville resident.

Donald was a devoted employee of 37 years at Northeast Utilities where he started as an assistant district office manager and then moved on to developing, implementing and managing the payment processing center which was recognized as being the best in the nation by an independent auditor. Donald was a member of the Big Band Society.  He was on the Mayor’s Committee to resolve the bicentennial deficit in New Britain. Donald was a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC) and his passions were collecting oriental rugs, antiques and clocks. Donald was an extremely positive person. He spent moments of every day talking to people and truly enjoying life’s simple conversation. Donald was extremely likable, kind and generous. He was a devoted friend and will be deeply missed by all of the lives that he touched.

On his ordinary journey, he performed extraordinary acts of kindness.

In addition to his parents, Donald was predeceased by his two sisters, Ruth B. Dakin and June Barrows and four brothers; Earl, Elmer, Norman and Wallace Barrows and his nephew, Robert Harlow. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Donald was a longtime member of the Plainville Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to the Book of Remembrance Fund at the Plainville Congregational Church, 130 W. Main St, Plainville, CT 06062.

Obituaries: Grazia Etorre

Grazia (Forcella) Ettorre, 84, of Plainville, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain.  She is now reunited with her beloved husband of 54 years, Nicola “Nick” Ettorre, who predeceased her in 2008.

Born in Italy on January 1, 1933, she was one of four children to the late Filipo and Sophia (Pulcini) Forcella.  She and Nick married in Italy in 1954 and settled in Plainville shortly after where they raised their five children.  Grazia was well known for her passion for cooking, especially her much-loved meatballs and sauce that could never be duplicated.  She began her career in food service at the former Inn Chablis in Plainville, and went on to work for the Silo in Farmington until her stroke in 1997.  While that may have prevented her from continuing to work, she had a strong will and remained independent until less than a week ago.  She enjoyed being outside in her yard, working in her garden, and soaking up the sun’s rays each day. A woman of great faith, she was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Church.  A loving mother and grandmother, she will be missed dearly.

Grazia leaves her devoted son and daughter-in-law, Giuseppe “Joe” and Debbie Ettorre of Plainville; her daughters, Kathy, Amalia, Sophia, and Annette; her sister, Jennie Faiazza; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  She also leaves her extended family, Antonio and Lidia Ettorre, whose visits were much appreciated; Michelangelo and Yolanda Ettorre, Marie Forcella and Ilda Forcella.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Michael, Tomasso, and Ermanno Forcella.

Joe and Debbie extend their deepest gratitude to her caretakers, Anna, Janina, Irene, and Lucyna, who were instrumental in fulfilling Grazia’s wishes to remain in her home.

A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Grazia’s life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church.  Family and friends may gather at the church prior to the mass for visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery, Plainville.

Obituaries: Raymond F. Berard

Raymond F. Berard, 85, of Plainville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Apple Rehab in Plainville.  He now joins his wife, Yvonne (Corriveau) Berard, who predeceased him in 2015.

Born in Barton, VT on July 15, 1931, he was the son of the late Pierre and Rosilda (Pechette) Berard.  Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserves for over four years.  He and Yvonne settled in Plainville after his discharge, where they shared over 60 years of marriage and raised their family.  Always a man of hard work ethics, he retired from Marlin Rockwell after more than 30 years, and could be found many days working in his yard or around the house “over-fixing” things and creating projects.  More recently, he took great pride in his blueberry shrubs, sharing his harvest with family and friends.

He will be missed by his son, Robert Berard, his grandchildren, Shannon and Ryan; and his precious dog, Abby Rose.  He leaves many nieces and nephews, and extended family in New Hampshire, and was predeceased by his brother Paul Berard and his sister, Yvette Paquette.

Cecile Morin Michaud, beloved wife of Gaspard Michaud passed away peacefully at Bristol Hospital with her loved ones by her side on Friday Feb 10, 2017. Cecile was born in Lewiston Maine on July 6, 1951 to the late Wilfred and Blanche (Caron) Morin.

Cecile leaves behind her husband and two sons David and Jeffrey. Cecile was a devoted grandmother to her grandsons Devin and Daniel.  Cecile also leaves her brother Phillippe Morin, sisters Noella Morin and Louise Hilton and several nieces and nephews. Cecile was predeceased by her sister Yvette Mason and brother Emile Morin.

Cecile was a graduate of Bristol Central High School, worked at Bristol Hospital, Superior Electric and Whitman Controls Corp.

Even through the challenges of her illness Cecile continued to work and take sanctuary in her beautiful garden.

Audrey L. (Holmes) Posadas, 89, of Plainville, passed away on Thursday February 23, 2017 at Apple Rehab of Farmington Valley in Plainville. She was the loving wife of the late Philip “Gank” Posadas, with whom she shared 63 years of marriage.

 

Mrs. Posadas was born October 14, 1927 in Bristol the daughter of the late Charles and Doris (Osbourne) Holmes and was a longtime Plainville resident. Audrey was a homemaker who loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as her grand cats, Peachie and Tuckie. She was an avid reader and a lifelong member of the Congregational Church of Plainville, UCC. Audrey was a quiet soul who left this world as quietly as she came.

 

Audrey leaves her son, James Posadas and his wife Jackie of Plainville, her grandchildren, David Posadas and his wife Cindy and Shannon Hughes and her husband Tom, her great grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Posadas and Hannah and Zach Hughes. She was predeceased by her daughter Juana Posadas and her brothers, Budney and David Holmes.

 

Funeral services for Audrey with burial in Plainville West Cemetery will be celebrated privately by her family. There are no calling hours. Mildred (Czapla) Pilarski, 87, passed away on Saturday March 4 2017 at Hartford Hospital. She was the wife of the late Wallace Pilarski.

Mildred was born on Feb. 20, 1930 in Clifton Heights, PA, the daughter of the late John and Mary (Matusz) Czapla.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Pilarski of Bristol, Cliff Pilarski and wife Lisa of Wolcott, Steven Pilarski and wife Nadine of Terryville, ten grandchildren: Melissa, Janelle, Dylan, Devan, Cameron, Caidan, Analise, Olivia, Julia, Spencer; and one great grandchild, Patrick ; special friends Jan Von Flatern, Nancy Heiser and JoAnn Heiser.

Mildred also leaves a sister Stephanie Dulka of E. Hartford; sister-in-law Betty Czapla of E. Hartford and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Walter Czapla and a brother-in-law Joseph Dulka.

Marcia Ann (Muszynski) Genatowski, resident of Owasso, Okla., passed from this life on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the age of 72 years.

Marcia was born January 11, 1945 in New Britain, CT to Michael and Helen (Zionce) Muszynski. She was raised and received her education in Connecticut. On November 16, 1963, Marcia and Herbert James Genatowski were united in marriage in Cheshire, CT. To this union, three children were born. Marcia and Herb made their home first in CT before moving to Oklahoma, Illinois and West Virginia, before returning to Oklahoma in 1980.

Marcia was of the catholic faith and attended Saint Henry Catholic Church in Owasso. She had worked as an accounts payable analyst for both Phillips Petroleum and Enterprise Car Rental prior to retirement. In her spare time, Marcia enjoyed coloring, puzzles, reading, gardening and a variety of Disney characters and memorabilia.

Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are her husband Herb; children — Michele Hefner and husband Bobby of Chelsea, OK, Susan Kerr of Owasso and Diane Shaffer and husband Chris of Morgantown, WV. Also surviving are two sisters — Frances Deschesnes of Springvale, PA and Barbara Modica of Plainville, CT; as well as her four grandchildren Lauren, Nathan, Tyler and Max. Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Shirley Sorbello.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 10:00 AM in the sanctuary of Saint Henry Catholic Church, Owasso, with Father Matt LaChance as the officiant. There will be a visitation for family and friends on Thursday evening at Mowery Funeral Service, Owasso from 6 to 8 PM. Cremation will follow the services and her ashes will be interred at a later date in Connecticut.

Obituaries: Nicholas Palmere

Nicholas Palmere, 73, of Plainville, formerly of New Britain, passed away surrounded by his family after a brief illness on Thursday, March 9, 2017.

Born and raised in New Britain, he was one of six children to the late Nicholas and Irene (Moran) Palmere.  He attended local schools, and worked for more than 30 years for the City of New Britain, retiring from Public Works in 1990.  He settled in Plainville 25 years ago, where he leaves many friends, especially his second family at the Blue Plate Restaurant.  Affectionately known as “Tuna” to his close friends and family, he was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed watching football, going to the former Plainville Stadium with his family to watch the car races, and later, watching car racing on TV. He frequented the banks of the Farmington River, never missing an opening day of fishing, and was known for never turning down a card game.  He lived his life on his own terms, and will be missed dearly leaving many cherished memories.

Lawrence (Larry) Stewart Edelson, 62, of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 2, 2017, surrounded by his wife and children.

Larry grew up in Plainville, Connecticut. He graduated from Plainville High School, where he was an honor student, All-State swimmer, and member of the track team, and went on to graduate from Columbia University. He was an esteemed financial consultant, a Senior Editor for Weiss Resesearch, and one of the world’s foremost experts on gold and silver commodities. Larry traveled the world for business and pleasure, traveling extensively throughout Southeast Asia and Europe, and he had a passion for meeting people from different nations and learning about their cultures.

Larry leaves to celebrate his life his cherished, devoted, and loving family: his wife, Nong; his children Dr. Kari Edelson of Connecticut; Aaron Edelson, Kevin Edelson, Alex Edelson, and Megan Edelson, all of Florida; his sister Shereen Edelson of Connecticut, her husband Arnold Menchel and their children Robert and Eric Menchel; his brother Dr. David Edelson of Connecticut, his wife Susan, and their children Joshua Edelson with his wife Annie and daughter Emeline, Benjamin Edelson, and Jared Edelson. Larry also leaves many dear family members, including Sharon Tarr Edelson of Florida, Jack and Andrew Werblow of Connecticut, and Jerry and Susan Kessler of Massachusetts, and a host of friends and business colleagues. Larry was predeceased by his beloved parents Dr. Irving and Phyllis Edelson and cousins Suzanne and David Werblow.

A celebration of Larry’s life was held in Florida for Larry’s local family, friends, and business colleagues. A memorial service will be held in Connecticut at the Farmington Valley Jewish Congregation, 55 Bushy Hill Road, Simsbury, on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at 6 p.m. Donations in Larry’s memory can be made to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org), or to Make-A-Wish Connecticut (www.ct.wish.org).

Jeanne D’Arc (Nadeau) Blanchard, 90, of Bristol, widow of Philias Blanchard, died on Friday (March 24, 2017) at The Pines at Bristol.  Jeanne was born in New Brunswick, Canada on September 6, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Soucy) Nadeau  She was raised, schooled, and married in New Brunswick, Canada before she and Phil came to Bristol around 1969.  She went to work for Connecticut Spring and then O/Z-Gedney before retiring.  Jeanne loved to crochet and knit and often made clothing for her family.  Her family also enjoyed her cooking.  She was a parishioner of St. Matthew Church.  Jeanne is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law: Donald and Sandy Blanchard of Southington, and Jean-Paul and Carol Blanchard of Plainville, and Jeannot Blanchard of Bristol; two brothers: Martin and Robert Nadeau of New Brunswick; a sister, Mary Claire Marquis of New Brunswick; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by four children: Gaston Blanchard in 1978, Guildo Blanchard and Rachel Deprey in 1988, and Amanda Albert in 2012, two grandchildren, and four siblings.  Calling hours will be held at Funk Funeral Home, 35 Bellevue Ave., Bristol on Thursday (March 30, 2016) from 4 PM until a prayer service at 6:30 PM.   Burial will be at the convenience of the family in St Joseph Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 825 Brook St., I-91 Tech Center, Rocky Hill, CT 06067-3045.  Please visit Jeanne’s memorial website at www.FUNKFUNERALHOME.com

Dayle Ballash, 63, of Bristol, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, early Monday morning, March 27, 2017.  She was the beloved wife of Rudy J. Ballash.

 

 

 

Dayle was born in Bristol on August 8, 1953 daughter of the late Carlyle and Barbara (Taylor) Olander.  She retired in 2009 from process development after 35 years at Pratt & Whitney.  She was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and also enjoyed graphic design, creating her crafts and online shopping.

 

 

 

Besides her husband, she leaves her children and their spouses, Jason and Megan Ballash and Melissa and Wesley Hoyt all of Bristol; a brother Peter Olander of Wasilla, Alaska; her grandson Ethan Hoyt; her mother-in-law Florence Ballash and several nieces and nephews.
