Dean George Hartz, 55, of Bantam, passed away peacefully at Hartford Hospital on Friday, March 4, surrounded by family.
He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 25, 1960. He was the son of Georganne (Hartz) Garbus and the late Dean Alan Hartz. He was a graduate of Litchfield High School. He was a carpenter in Litchfield County for 30 years and raised his family in Terryville.
He is survived by his mother, Georganne Garbus and his step-father, Ron Garbus, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; his children, Dean “Phelan” Hartz of Litchfield, and Taylor Hartz of Bristol; four brothers, Todd Hartz of Torrington, Erik Hartz of Gastonia, N.C., Craig Hartz of Broadalbin, N.Y., and Scott Hartz, of Broadalbin, N.Y.; his two grandsons, Ryan and Logen; his daughter-in-law, Lauryn Hartz of Litchfield; and a number of loved ones including Tracy Martin, of Morris, and Corrie Ekelhoff, of Canaan.

A celebration of life will be held in Litchfield this spring for friends and family who wish to honor his memory in a positive way.
